Hi,
I get a combination of white screen / texture errors since patching last week. Though it seems sporadic. CPU/GPU temps are normal and no issues running other intensive games (Crysis/Oblivion). I did notice that after the texturing oddness occurs in EVE, and I can gracefully return to the desktop, Crysis/Oblivion failed to load properly. Though after rebooting, Crysis/Oblivion loaded as usual. So I sort of suspect something odd going on with video/texture memory.
In another instance of the texture oddness, I ran dxdiag.exe to try the dxdiag fix suggested earlier, but found it died (essentially nothing was visible on the screen and things just sort of hung) once it hit the DirectX 8.0 and DirectX 9.0 tests (the DirectX 7.0 test was fine). A reboot resolved this (reboot and then running the dxdiag tests).
I've run on the classic client and premium client, re-installed the client, re-installed DirectX 8.0/9.0c, re-installed the video drivers, and Windows is up to date. Still seem to have the odd texture mapping from time to time. Toggling the star-map or hitting Escape and then returning sometimes clears things up, but occasionally it just starts "layering" the textures (e.g., screen does not get wiped and restored and windows that have been exited remain on screen).
Occasionally, texture maps are displayed in the background instead of being mapped to a button/ship/etc (for example, on launching the character who is at a station, the texture map for the buttons appear as the background (white with the button images), or fonts on the buttons are skewed (larger than they should be) on some of the buttons. Station backgrounds sometimes look greyish (fog, perhaps). Launching out of the station basically keeps the background texture that had appeared incorrectly, so the star overlay isn't visible.
I've had one case when I had left the launch window open (logged out, just allowing the EVE graphic/poly to render on screen at the opening screen beginning) and I returned later to see the texture map for the poly on screen instead. Oddly enough the classic client did this once too, but I haven't seen that recently.
I'm not sure if it's related to the patch, but the texture oddness did seem to start last week. It could be coincidental.
Errors have been "reported to Microsoft". I'll start running logserver.exe regularly to see what I can be found as well.
